Student Internships for ATS Students

Regional Internships

The Student-Interns at Alan T. Sugiyama High School will experience working and learning in a Non-Profit arts organization, learning skills that are “learned on the job”, like working in a team and yet these skills are transferable to most other work environments. Student-Interns will work with industry professionals at CD Forum For Arts, The Seattle Rep Theatre, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Seattle Theatre Group, Kreative Collective, Exquity Now, KEXP Radio, The Residency and GZ Radio at VERA. Students will experience , marketing, podcasting, event production, media production, theatre costuming and much more.

At Alan T. Sugiyama we offer Students the opportunity to learn with professionals in the field of Arts and Entertainment. Students are matched with professional organizations in the Artistic, Technical and Administrative areas. Steve Sneed , the coordinator for Student-Interns, looks to understand a student’s hidden talents, skills and curiosities, to determine the best organizational fit. Once a student is matched with an organization, the work begins. To receive the school credit and financial stipend a student must complete 90 intern hours and be evaluated by the arts organization. The 90 hours equals about 4-6 hours per week in a semester.

Students assume more responsibility leaving the school campus and working in a professional environment. Transferable skills are learned, which will serve them in all their future pursuits. It is a great learning experience for the students, one they will never forget.
